Embracing the death of Nelson Mandela

In The Times yesterday, the headline "End nears for Mandela" caught my eye. The subtitle said it all, "Nelson Mandela, 94, has become critically ill after 16 days in hospital."

Reading on further, it made me chuckle when I read that the seven doctors travelling with Mandela were "in full control of the situation". How preposterous!

When the life energy withdraws from the physical expression, doctors are anything but in control. What can they do? The Soul energy has chosen to withdraw, to die... to Dissipate Identifying Energies.

Rather than a morbid report, however, Nelson Mandela's critical condition presents us with another opportunity to remind ourselves of the Sacred Passage of the Soul, and to remind ourselves of the precious Gift of Life that we have been given.

One thing is certain: all of us must pass through the window of death, just as we have chosen to pass through the window of birth.

In human terms,we enter at "conception" or "birth", move along an imaginary timeline, and then experience "death". This all seems very real to us, and so it should be, else the purpose of the Grand Illusion would be lost! However, as we grow in consciousness, we realise that this timeline is linear, so life and death exist because of it.

Spirit moves in a circle... Is a circle... And we are part of Spirit. As part of that consciousness and energy, we are not bound to the linear timeline of decay and death.

For those who have forgotten the Soul's journey, who think that this life is all there is, Mandela's death will be a tragedy. It will be a great loss.

For those who have remembered the Soul's journey, his passing over will be a triumph. It will be a celebration!

Nelson Mandela has certainly accomplished his Soul's purpose, rising to the challenge of being here on Earth, and even surpassing his own expectations of what was possible. Only a Great Soul could have chosen such a path, demonstrating forgiveness and compassion so consistently, that the Giant Wall of Indifference and Separation ("Apartheid") came tumbling down.

Now it is time to let him go, with gratitude for all he has done for us.

And so it is.

Becoming more aware of your internal dialogue

You are talking to yourself at every moment of every day. Ask yourself, "how often am I aware of my internal dialogue?"

When you are speaking to others, whether giving advice or criticism, feeling love, or feeling intolerance and having less than loving thoughts, your mind is recording the thoughts and feelings you have about the persons and situations you are dealing with.

When you unconsciously re-act, you act out the same energies that are within yourself. You recreate them within your self, and strengthen them.

When you pause to notice what is within, it creates a gap and the possibility of change, an opportunity to demonstrate a higher aspect of your nature. This is called being more conscious, more self-aware.

People see self-consciousness as a negative thing. But being conscious of one's Self has a higher aspect to consider. For when you become more aware of your true self, more good can flow into your life.

Self-consciousness is only difficult or painful at the beginning, because we see what was previously hidden, buried and covered-up. We see the darkness through our own Light, so we can release it.

Darkness is the ignorance of the lower self, personality, or ego.

Begin to take opportunities in your day to make positive, appreciative, loving statements to yourself. This will help you be more aware of when the inner dialogue is negative.

Talking to yourself with awareness can be likened to reprogramming the software of your mind, and is done by affirming a new, positive thought. You could also call it self- hypnosis. The label doesn't really matter.

The best times to make positive statements to yourself is just before you fall asleep at night, or first thing in the morning when you wake up. This is when your subconscious mind is open and receptive to new impressions. Your conscious, waking mind is less likely to object, based on the limited data it has - which is rooted in the past!

This positive affirmation practice can be combined with your morning yoga routine, or morning jog, workout at the gym etc. Do them just before, and then during your activity. Use the power of your mind to focus constructively.

The most important thing about self-talk is that you need to make statements that you believe in, at least in part. Like a climber scaling a steep precipice, you must get a foothold in the groove of your own mind.

It is also helpful to affirm that you are connected with a Greater Power than yourself. You can call it whatever you want - God, Spirit, The Universe, Buddha, The Christ within - the main thing is to recognise that you are a droplet from the Great Ocean of Consciousness, but you are not the Ocean.

Before you reached even your teenage years, your mind had already been programmed with hundreds of thousands of hours of programming, some of it loving, supportive and nourishing, but much of it was probably unsupportive and self-limiting, or self-destructive.

How do you know? Simply look for areas in your life which are consistently not working. These areas most likely have negative beliefs underpinning them, which need to be released.

As an adult, you can reprogram your own mind and take your power back. This is especially important to do in areas of your life which are not working.

Blessings on the path.

Your prayers are always answered

Whenever you have a need, great or small, that inner call for help is answered, immediately. How the answer shows up may or may not be immediately apparent. However, if we can trust that we are connected to an Invisible and Benevolent Power that makes all things possible, then we will know we are safe, and that all is really well.

If you are very sick, you would go to see your neighbourhood energy healer, holistic practitioner, or doctor, or have them visit you at your home; if you have a leak that is causing damage to your home, you would call your friendly plumber who would magically appear to fix the problem. If suddenly find yourself out of work, you might stumble across your dream job through a "coincidental chat" with a friend of a friend, who happens to need a person just like you!

All these instances are parts of the Divine showing up in response to your request for help. You ask (any "prayer" is a request for help on some level), and it is given, every time. Some people call this power God, others may call it "The Universe", it does not matter what the label is. The main feeling you have when the answer to your prayer comes is a feeling of RELIEF.

You may not have seen it this way before, but the invitation is there to give thanks that God has literally appeared in your life!

Today, right here, right now, choose to let go of any limiting ideas that God is separate from you (there is nothing that God is not), and that God has to show up in a particular way; for example, many religious folk will only acknowledge God if "He" appears to them in "Light form" or "with a throng of luminescent angels". Yet, this is limiting God! These are only human constructs of how the unknowable can be partially knowable, or how the unseen can be partially seen.

It has been said many times, that Divinity is here in myriad forms, speaking to us all the time in countless ways. And all of us here are unique, wonderful parts of the Divine, because we stem from the same wonderful Source, which is Love. As we all know, Love is energy, and energy changes form - it cannot be destroyed, ever.

Remember this: you are really God in miniature form because the Universe is holographic, and each part mirrors the whole!

Of course, our minds may not reflect that pure Source of Unconditional Love all of the time because the image in the mirror of our own consciousness may be distorted. Most of the human race has adopted many false beliefs that prevent us living a life of Grace, Harmony and Peace: false beliefs like, we are separate from God and each other, we have to struggle, only the fittest survive, it's a "dog eat dog" world and so on. Yet, as God clearly said to Neale in Conversations with God, "I have sent you nothing but angels".

When someone appears in your life to help you, to uplift you in some way, no matter how small, that is actually God showing up. Remember that.

We are all sparks of the Divine, manifested here on Earth. Our fundamental essence is love and, deep down, we feel at our best when we are in the flow, helping others to feel good too. A caring word, or a loving touch, are two of the most precious gifts we can share - and they cost us nothing.

Sharing our greatest joys, and not just our sorrows, is one of our deepest human needs. We elevate each other through tapping into our highest potential and sharing that with each other.

Heaven is here on Earth, if we can but change the narrow filters of our lens.

Will you choose to accept or reject your own Divinity?

Most of us have years of negative thought patterns to overcome. Often, testing situations suddenly "appear" in our lives from time to time to remind us of the power we have inside - and to help us use that power more consciously, more deliberately, to create what we do want.

These testing situations also appear to remind us that we are at cause in every experience, not merely at the effect. This understanding can be a powerful awakener, helping us let go of our victim mentality.

Many courageous souls have chosen not to blame others, or fate, for the unwanted circumstances and outcomes in their lives. Instead, they have owned their inner power and transformed the energy of their very experience.

Nelson Mandela is one such great soul. Nick Vujicic is another. Many more examples abound.

You can choose to do the same. You have the same power, and opportunity.

The only real question is this: will you choose to reject or accept your own Divinity?
